What should I expect during the therapy session?
Before EMDR takes place, the client and therapist will decide if EMDR is right for the individual client and educate the client on the techniques. Clients will work with a professionally trained therapist in EMDR. The process requires the client to be open with the therapist. The client is in complete control of the process, the therapist will assist and equip the client through EMDR exercises. Once the trauma is identified, the therapist will help clients walk through various aspects of this event. This helps clients to identify and address all the aspects of trauma, in 365 degrees manner. These different aspects include a visual memory, negative thoughts associated with the trauma, adaptive or positive thoughts and feelings, and beliefs, and emotions.
